What... A... Month...

From the courts of Newport to moments in Vegas, July was more than just results. It was a reset.

Hey guys

I usually check in more often, but July hit like a freight train and never really let up. Between travel, tournaments, filming, and some long overdue time with family, it’s been full speed. And August? No signs of slowing down.

Before we dive into the recap, I want to highlight something exciting I’ve got going on right now.

This month’s newsletter is sponsored by my people over at ProXR. I’m also currently running a giveaway over on Instagram for a new paddle. Head there to check it out and see how to enter.

Now, let’s talk July.

APP Newport

We kicked off July with a bang at APP Newport, one of the biggest majors on tour and hands down the best stop of the season. The weather, the crowd, the vibes... it’s every pro’s favorite for a reason. Newport isn’t just a dream tourney, it’s where I want to end up one day. Semi-retired, living out there, doing life slower and better.

If you missed the interview I did while in town, check it out [here]. I talk about the tournament, my family, and how much my grandpa and dad mean to me. It’s a really special one.

Tournament Recap: Not my best

I went into Newport ready to fight, but it just wasn’t my weekend. I took home two bronzes, one with Will Howells in men’s and one with Megan Fudge in mixed, but came up short of Championship Sunday.

That bronze in men’s marked the end of a pretty wild run. I’ve been undefeated in men’s doubles match since last September. Almost a year. So yeah, that one stung. Big shoutout to Patrick Kawka and Kyle Koszuta for playing out of their minds in the semis. They earned it.

Mixed was a tight three-gamer, but I wasn’t as dialed as I needed to be. Some off-court stuff pulled focus, and it showed. No excuses, just one of those times.

Vegas Reset

After that, I headed to Vegas for a family reunion. I still worked while I was there (because I don’t know how not to), but it gave me time to step back and breathe.

Here’s something I’ve been wrestling with lately. I’m a pro athlete, which means I need sleep, recovery, and structure. But I’m also building something bigger, working nonstop, creating content, and chasing a legacy. And that often means sacrificing sleep to get more done. It’s a weird mental tug of war, and I’m still figuring out where the balance lies.

But if there’s one thing I learned this month, it’s how important it is to have your people around. When stuff hits the fan, family is everything. That Vegas trip came at the perfect time. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Back to Austin and Back to Work

Since getting home, it’s been full steam ahead. Filming nonstop, including some really fun challenge content like a recent one where I played two 5.0s using two paddles. One versus two. Insane. And honestly one of the most fun videos I’ve ever made.

That type of stuff is what lights me up. I want to keep leaning into it, pushing creative boundaries, blending fun with competition, and making this whole grind feel less like work and more like play.

Also filmed an interview with KVUE here in Austin, plus more collabs with ProXR. So yeah, staying busy, but trying to be as productive as possible with my time.

That’s a Wrap

That’s the July rundown. Hope you guys enjoyed reading this, lots of ups and downs, but I’m grateful for every step. Onward and upward. See y’all soon.
